UNDERSTANDING

THE WATER

Glass bottle VS plastic bottle
Historically, the natural mineral water bottles were made in glass. This material, 100% recyclable, ensure a perfect conservation of the water without deteriorate the taste. However, glass bottles are expensive, not adapted to all type of consumption (for kids, hospitals, prisons…), their production and their recycling are energy intensive.

This is why plastic bottles were developed, being a good economic alternative. Furthermore, the PET bottles are lighter and directly produced on the bottling site. In 2011, the Ademe confirmed that plastic bottles generated a better environmental record compared to the glass bottles. When you need one truck to deliver the plastic to the plant, you will need 16 trucks to deliver the same quantity of glass!

Both imperishable and transparent, the PET bottle perfectly preserves the natural mineral waters integrity and the one of the source waters. This material enabled to considerably reduce the packaging weight and so the environmental impact of the bottles. Regarding quality and security, the PET (plastic resin used to produce bottles) is validated by the ANSES, the national food safety agency. Those water bottles are the object of regular strict controls.

Do you know it?
The PET bottle is the second best sorted packaging after the glass.
Nowadays, the PET environmental record is more interesting than the glass one.
